MSU opens the season with a trip to Arizona
The Michigan State Men's Lacrosse team will begin the 2023 campaign with a pair of games in Phoenix.
The Spartans are lead by a strong group of returning players including MCLA All Americans Mathias Biland (D) and Johnny Rioux (FO). The offense will be lead by returning all conference players Hank Shaban, Jon Bickford and Connor Hamilton.
The Spartans open up the season with a game against #10 Brigham Young. The Cougars are lead by Sophomore Attackman Alton Taylor. Taylor tallied 12 goals and 3 assists in the first three games of the season for BYU. The Cougars are expected to start Senior goalie Nathan Horton between the pipes. Horton has 38 saves against 30 goals against. At the face off X the Cougars have 3 players sharing the load. Senior Jack Vassau, Junior Tanner shields and Sophomore Brady Richardson all have double digit wins on the season.
The trip will be capped off with a contest aginst Arizona State. The Sun Devils are lead by Sophomore attackers Kyle Decker and Jack Rogers who both have tallied double digit points in the first four games of their season. In net, Sophomore Aidan Shah (51% Save Pct, 10.25 GAA) is expected to start.
