Spartans advance to CCLA FINAL With 21-7 Victory

Michigan State took awhile to shake off the rust from 16 days of rest after their final regular season game April 13 but found their rhythm in the second & third quarters to cruise to a 21-7 CCLA tournament semifinal victory over Western Michigan.

The Spartans will face Davenport University Saturday April 30 at 4 pm for the CCLA Division 1 Championship. The winner will receive an automatic bid to the 20th Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association national championship May 9-14 in Orange County CA.

Western Michigan jumped out to a 2-0 lead and lead 3-2 at the end of the first quarter. Sparty pulled ahead 7-4 at the halftime break and outscored the Broncos 8-0 in the third quarter to take command 15-4 after three quarters.

Michigan State hopes to win their fifth straight CCLA championship, continuing a streak that began in 2012. The University of Michigan won five straight CCLA championships from 2007-2011 before becoming a NCAA Division 1 program.
