Spartans cruise to 21-5 victory over Central Michigan
#17 Michigan State (8-4, 5-0) improved to 5-0 in the Central Collegiate Lacrosse Association Division 1 conference with a 21-5 senior night victory over Central Michigan (5-5, 1-4) Wednesday night in East Lansing.
The Spartans started fast and led 6-0 after the first quarter. Sophomore attack Charlie Pistner recorded five goals in the opening period. The Chippewas rebounded in the second quarter with three goals and the score at the half was 9-3.
The Spartans scored six goals in both the third and fourth quarter (Central Michigan would score one goal in each quarter) for the victory.
The three Spartan seniors honored during half time each played a role in the victory. Captain midfielder Stevie McKee handed out six assists, midfielder Steve Tagett recorded his first goal of the season, and face off specialist Spencer Sims successfully led the face off unit for most of the second half.
Michigan State's final regular season conference game will be Sunday, April 23 vs Western Michigan. The game will be played at 7:00 pm at Byron Center High School Stadium near Grand Rapids Michigan as part of "MSU Day" put on by the Byron Center lacrosse community.
