Spartans defeat Chippewas 17-4; share conference lead

Michigan State defeated conference rival Central Michigan University 17-4 Monday night in Mount Pleasant Michigan. MSU led 4-2 after one quarter and tightened their defense the rest of the way while again receiving balanced scoring from seven different Spartan players. Sophomore Steve McKee (Holt MI) led the Spartan scoring attack with six goals.

With the win, #16 Michigan State improves to 3-1 in the CCLA Division 1 conference (4-4 overall) while CMU drops to 0-4. #11 Davenport lost to CCLA opponent Pittsburgh 15-14 April 1 so the Spartans now share the conference lead by virtue of their 12-8 win at Pittsburgh March 20.

The Spartans continue conference play on Wednesday, April 6 when they host the University of Toledo Rockets at Hope Sports Complex, 5801 N Aurelius Road in Lansing. Face Off is scheduled for 8:00 pm.
