Spartans Earn 15 CCLA All Conference Awards

Michigan State players were very well represented as the Central Collegiate Lacrosse Association President, Sean Buzzard, announced All Conference team selections at half time of the CCLA championship game between the Spartans and Davenport Panthers on Saturday at Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh. Michigan State won their fifth consecutive CCLA championship 11-6.

Sophomore Patrick Donovan (Grand Rapids MI, Forest Hills Central) was named the CCLA Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

The Spartan Players Selected to the CCLA All Conference team include:

First Team Attack: Mitch Newton, Senior, Rockford MI

First Team Midfield: Steve McKee, Sophomore, Holt MI

First Team Midfield: Mark Tratt, Senior, Dewitt MI

First Team Defense: Patrick Donovan, Sophomore, Forest Hills Central MI

First Team Defense: Grant Kerney, Senior, Walled Lake Central MI

First Team Defensive Midfield Specialist: Sam Uecker, Freshman Forest Hills Central MI

Second Team Attack: Charlie Pistner, Freshman, Cranbrook MI

Second Team Midfield: Kevin Horton, Senior, Clarkston MI

Second Team Long Stick Midfielder: Hunter MacDonald, Freshman, Orchard Lake St Marys MI

Second Team Defensive Midfield Specialist: Sam Robbins, Sophomore, Petoskey MI

Second Team Face Off Specialist: Trevor Sabo, Senior, Detroit Catholic Central MI
