Spartans Improve to 2-1 in CCLA with win at Oakland Wednesday
Fifteen different Michigan State players scored goals as the Spartans defeated Oakland University 27-5 Wednesday night in a game played at Oakland University in Rochester Michigan. Freshman midfielder, Charlie Pistner (Cranbrook School, MI) led the Spartan scoring attack with four goals. Senior attack Mitch Newton (Rockford MI), sophomore midfielder Steve McKee (Holt, MI) and freshman midfielder Shaun O'Loughlin (Pomfret School, CT) each scored three goals in the game.
Hunter Stephans, a sophomore from Bloomfield Hills Michigan, started in goal and played the entire game for Michigan State.
The Spartans face off unit contributed to the dominating performance by winning more than 80% of the draws on the night. Freshman Conner Stevenson (Walled Lake Central, MI), freshman John Toth (St Francis De Sales, Toledo OH) and freshman MacAlister Alexander (Boyne City, MI) all took face offs for the Spartans.
Michigan State led 8-1 after one quarter and 14-3 at the half. The Spartans would extend the lead to 18-4 and the end of three quarters and were able to play their entire roster during the game.
The Spartans will scrimmage NCAA Division III Albion College on April 1 at 5:15 pm EDT at the Briton's home field in Albion Michigan.
